FMP - Jewellery Brand - Ring designs

I wanted to have some ring designs displayed on my website and possibly brochure so that the customers could see what jewellery my brand had. Also if i had more time during fop i would have attempted to make little prototype rings to display on my final display. This was a shame that i ran out of time do i did detailed drawings to display instead. Here i have done basic side and front views of some rings to show what gemstones that i would use.

Here i drew some of the rings in colour with felt tip to make them more realistic. I wanted my rings to be dress jewellery so a lot of the designs are chunky with a lot of details and big gemstones. I decided in my drawings only to use diamonds, blue sapphires, emeralds, pearls and opals as all of these held the colour of the ocean. Also the yellow represents yellow gold which the ring would be set in.

I drew a selection of rings at all angles and photographed them for my display to show my products. I was really happy with my drawings as they portrayed the high end value that i wanted them too.

I then attempted to image trace some of my drawings on illustrator for my website. I thought this would have made the drawings look more professional and stand out better on the front page of my website. This was a technique i had never used before so was pleased that during my fmp i managed to gain skills in another area of software.

Research

To inspire my rings designs i looked at designers that already existed in the industry.  I found high end and some not as much, but wanted to see how the expensive and rare gemstones were portrayed on their websites.

Amidon Jewellery
Maeve

Scottish designer for engagement rings. This helped me see the elegance of the designs and the language used to describe the rings.

Theo Fennell

Imaginative high end jewellery.
This allowed me to see unique designs that incorporated under the sea and showed me the colours used that i could consider in my designs.

Tatty Devine

Highstreet jewellery with a deep sea treasure collection.
This had branding techniques to it as i could see the colours used and how the theme under the sea was used on a website and how the products linked to the theme.

Phillippe Cramer

Artist who has a collection of under the sea type jewellery.
The shapes that were used to highlight the theme under the sea helped me design rings that were different to your everyday ring.

Overall my research defiately helped inspire my drawings and taught me some technical tricks that i never knew. I am not very confident with drawing anyway but the shapes of other peoples drawings helped lead me on the right track to the rings i drew. The colours of some the artists also helped me with the picking of what stones i should use in my drawings.
