3D chair

For this task we had to make a product that could hold you/an item off the ground. I decided to make a multi purpose product that could be a shelf, bedside table or a stool.  For our materials we had x4 sheets of cardboard and masking tape. I chose to use a triangular base for sturdiness and quirkiness. Our product also had to be flat packed.
For the base I slotted 3 rectangles together to create a triangular base. I made this so that the triangle could be dismantled into something flat. I thought my base was extremely strong however I could not sit on it. To improve this I could have doubled up the cardboard so that the triangle was thicker.

The base of my product.

To make the product have a multi purpose I added a rectangular shelf that slotted into the base. This allowed the shelf to come out and be flat packed. I added a hinge underneath the shelf to make it stronger.

Higher angle of my product.

I also added a circular shelf that also slotted into the base. This could have been a drinks holder. I also used the basic shapes of triangles, circles and square to make the product have different textures and simplicity.

I then added a top to the base which was a larger triangle. To have improved this I would have been more precise with the triangle lid so that it fitted the base. I attached it with basking tape, however this could be easily removed to flat pack.

This was my final product from a floor view. Although I couldn't sit on my product, it could be used to hold a lamp or another object. I could have improved also by making it look better, and I would have done this through planning better. I enjoyed this task as I haven't done something like this before.
